Dr. Garnet Packota Professor

Dr. Packota was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.  He received his DMD from the University of Saskatchewan, and obtained his M Sc degree and specialty training in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto. He has been a faculty member at the College of Dentistry since 1985. At the College of Dentistry, he served as Head of the previous Department of Diagnostic and Surgical Sciences, and was Acting Associate Dean for one year. Dr. Packota is a former President of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada (RCDC) and the Canadian Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology, and has served as an examiner for his specialty with the RCDC for many years.

Research interests

Use of cone beam computed tomography and other radiographic imaging for investigation of third molar calcification and impaction, pulpal calcifications and autogenous bone graft procedures

Use of synchrotron radiation for detailed imaging of dental restorative materials
