Bio: Dr. Bari Chowdhury is a microbiologist and immunologist with over 16 years of research experience spanning academia and industry. He gained significant research and teaching experience in molecular biology, cell biology, immunology and infectious disease across academic institutions in Bangladesh, South Korea Canada, and the United States. Beyond the lab, Dr. Chowdhury has applied his scientific expertise in industry settings, including quality control, and R&D leadership.

Dr. Chowdhury earned his Ph.D. in Immunology from the College of Medicine at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea, following a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. His postdoctoral training took him to the Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST), where he collaborated on interdisciplinary research and mentored junior scientists.

Throughout his career, Dr. Chowdhury has held research leadership roles at the University of Saskatchewan and the University of Texas Medical Branch, contributing to studies on arterial thrombosis and aging, chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy, and tumor biology using advanced animal models and molecular techniques. His work has also included genomic and proteomic analysis of pathogenic bacteria, with a particular focus on Vibrio cholerae pathogenesis during his doctoral and early research career.

Dr. Chowdhury accepted a teaching position at University of Saskatchewan in 2024 and eventually became a full-time teaching faculty in 2026. Dr. Chowdhury brings his mix of academic and applied experience into the classroom, which shapes how he approaches both research and teaching. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals such as Oncogene, Nature Communications, and the Journal of Biological Chemistry. His contributions to the field of host-pathogen interaction have earned him multiple awards and accreditations over the span of his career.
