Dr. Daniela Pita de Melo is a clinician-scientist with extensive experience in conducting research on Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology  in many advanced image techniques. After nineteen years of combined training and experiences in the field of oral and maxillofacial radiology, she has been enthusiastic on sharing those experiences in the classroom and motivating the students to appreciate the art of diagnosis. Her diverse background has also led to collaborations with colleagues at several institutions and societies. This is reflected in the variety of publications and administrative appointments that she has been involved in over the past years.

Dr. Pita de Melo is an advocate for evidence-based dentistry and her research plans include continuing investigation of CBCT diagnostic strengths and weakness, infrared thermography applications in Dentistry, MRI assessment of TMD and the diverse applications of artificial intelligence in diagnostic imaging. Throughout her carriers, Dr. Pita de Melo has published a vast number of scientific papers in high impact journals, with over 970 citations and earning an h-index of 20.
