College of Dentistry

Dr. Randy Brilz was born and raised in Saskatchewan. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Microbiology from the University of Regina and a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from the University of Saskatchewan. Dr. Brilz served eight years in the Canadian Armed Forces. He practiced general dentistry in Cold Lake, Alberta. Following his military service, he associated in different practices in both Vancouver and Victoria, British Columbia.

After practicing as a general dentist for several years Dr. Brilz returned to grad school at the University of British Columbia where he earned a diploma in Periodontics. Following this, he moved to Victoria and established a specialty practice in periodontics. Recently, he further expanded his expertise by completing a Graduate Certificate in Pain Management at the University of Alberta.

 

Dr. Brilz has an active interest in:

  1. Pain science and pain management. With a specific focus on pain through a
     biopsychosocial lens and use of multimodal therapies.
  2. A focus on Artificial Intelligence(AI) to optimize student learning experiences and to
    streamline the research processes.
