How you can help: Equipping Student Learning Spaces Project
Donors can make a meaningful contribution toward a haptic simulator or toward an operatory chair.
As part of the dental clinic renovation, the College has launched the Equipping Student Learning Spaces project, a fundraising initiative aimed at securing the final pieces of the revitalization project—operatory chairs and haptic dental simulators that will prepare students for real-world clinical practice.
“Our students deserve access to the most advanced tools and technology available,” states Dr. Greg Kost (DMD), interim assistant dean, clinics. “Through this project, donors can make a direct and visible impact on student learning. Each gift not only supports hands-on education but also creates a legacy within the college through naming recognition on our new equipment.”
Dean Dr. Walter Siqueira emphasizes the importance of the project for both students and the wider community. “This renovation represents an investment in the next generation of oral health professionals,” said Dr. Siqueira. “By equipping our learning spaces with the latest technology, we are ensuring that our students gain the skills and confidence they need to deliver the highest standard of patient care, both now and into the future.”
The upgraded Intego Pro Operatory Chairs offer advanced ergonomics, ambidextrous configuration, and high-tech features such as LED lighting and sanitation systems. These will enhance both student learning and patient experience. Meanwhile, haptic dental simulators provide immersive, virtual training that allows students to refine their techniques before working with real patients, a major benefit for both learners and the community they serve.
Due to inflation and rising construction costs, the renovation project’s budget has increased by $1 million over the original estimate. The Equipping Student Learning Spaces project seeks to bridge that gap.
Donors can make a meaningful contribution with a $5,000 gift toward a haptic simulator or a $10,000 gift toward an operatory chair. Each contribution will be recognized with a personalized plaque—creating a lasting tribute that will inspire future generations of dental professionals who learn and train in these upgraded spaces.
With alumni support, the College of Dentistry will continue to provide a dynamic, hands-on learning environment that reflects the future of dental education and care.
